Thanks for checking out my blog! I’m Tim and I am working on a memoir composed of short stories. This blog is a vehicle for drafting the building blocks of what I hope will become a full length book. Here you’ll find my story of becoming an Army officer, my service, and my transition to civilian life. You’ll also encounter my thoughts on life, and reflections on issues we face in the US as they relate to my story. My intention is to share with you my journey in a fun and constructive way. This is also a way of holding myself accountable for frequent self reflection.
I am an Iraq War veteran, a husband, a doggy dad, an alumnus of St. Bonaventure University, a punk rocker, an amateur photographer, and a novice Stoic. Clearly there is a lot on my mind. You can expect a wide range of topics from this blog.
One major theme though will be bridging the civil/military divide that exists in America. This is an issue near and dear to me. I believe vets must take initiative in this endeavor, and this is my effort to do just that. I hope to promote a positive image of the veteran community, but in no way do I espouse to represent it. These are my own thoughts, and while others may hold similar views, I only claim to know myself.
I’ve also written a blog post specifically aimed at explaining the organization and style of the blog. It may be helpful to check it out if you have not already.
There will be plenty of lighter topics too. This is, after all, a story of my journey through life. Sometimes smooth, often bumpy, always moving forward. Thanks for joining me for the ride.
